Sketchley School

Welcome to Sketchley School

Welcome to Sketchley School. Located across three sites in Leicestershire, Sketchley is an independent day school for children and young people aged 8-19 years with autism and associated conditions.

Specialised, individualised learning that transforms lives

Sketchley is not a traditional school, because traditional schools cannot fully meet the needs of our young people. We look and feel different, and the learning and support we deliver makes us stand apart, even from other specialist schools. Sketchley delivers specialised, highly individualised education and support that completely transforms the lives of our young people and their families.

Children and young people achieve exceptional outcomes, despite previous difficulties at school or being out of education for long periods. Since our establishment, every pupil has attained at least five GCSE passes, all access further education and every young person leaving us goes on to university, training or employment. We encourage our pupils to have high aspirations and to place no limits on what they can achieve.

A school tailored to our pupils’ needs

Everything about the school and our three sites has been purposefully designed to meet the specific needs of the students. Our very small class sizes are key to unlocking their potential. Small classes enable staff to provide the intensive support that young people need to achieve rapid and significant progress academically, socially and emotionally. Pupils feel comfortable participating in lessons and can develop their social skills and make friends.

We minimise the anxiety that children with autism can feel, because there are no large crowds to contend with. Instead they are part of a school with a warm, personal, family-feel. This is underpinned by a dedicated staff team who are passionate about making a difference to the young people’s lives and equipping them with a brighter future.

Building confidence and skills for a fulfilling future

Our aim at Sketchley School is to equip every young person with the skills and confidence that they need for a happy, independent and fulfilling future. Young people learn in an adapted environment where they feel safe, comfortable and understood, and we are so proud of the inspirational progress they make.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to arrange a visit and see the school for yourself.

Sketchley School pupil

“As soon as we initiated contact with Sketchley and met Susanna we knew that you were exactly what our daughter needed and set our sights on securing this for her. The amount of support, knowledge and expertise Susanna and Marie were able to provide was pivotal for us and spoke volumes. It was the first time in over three years that our daughter was able to display positivity with any form of educational contact. Our daughter will need a lot of support but we wholeheartedly know she will receive this at Sketchley.”
