Located in a quiet and rural environment within South Ayrshire, Brownhill Cottage offers a single placement. The children’s home supports one child or young person aged 8-18 years with complex needs, who presents as high risk, is exceptionally vulnerable, and is in need of greater protection.
The range of communal spaces available for the young person to enjoy includes a large lounge, kitchen and well-maintained gardens.

Supporting the needs of the young person
The young person at Brownhill Cottage generally has difficulties sustaining relationships and finds living in a group setting problematic. The resident may require trauma-related support and wellbeing intervention approaches, in keeping with the robust risk-management programmes. The environment, routines and strategies reflect what works best for the individual young person.
The staff ratios reflect the needs of the young person and 2:1 support is in place across the 24-hour waking service.
