An Outstanding service achieving great outcomes for children

Aspris Fostering Services have been rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ since 2012. As one of our carers, you will be looking at a short waiting list as we have low vacancy rates. Our skill at matching child to carer, together with the tailored, high quality local support we provide, mean we have very stable placements which result in excellent outcomes for children and young people.

In fact, our placement length is three times longer than the national average and many of our young people choose to stay on with their foster family after their 18th birthday.

“The rewards of seeing a child thrive and develop with confidence are just awesome.”

Personalised local support, whenever you need it

Fostering is not a 9-5 job, which is why we are here to support you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We pride ourselves on the outstanding support we give to our foster carers and how well we get to know you and your family.

From day one you will have your own supervising social worker, living locally to you and on hand to provide information and advice, attend meetings with you, advocate on your behalf or pay a visit if you need some advice. We really are there for you whenever you need us.

We believe it is important to build a relationship with a consistent person at Priory Fostering Services, so you get the high quality support you need. In addition to your social worker you will also have access to a wider team of helpful experts, from child support workers to psychologists. As a team we work closely with each other and every one of us knows our children and carers extremely well.

You will be part of a family of Priory foster carers and if you are new to foster care, we can arrange for one of our more experienced carers to support and mentor you. You will also be able attend our regular coffee mornings and other events, where carers share their knowledge and support each other.

“Watching them thrive and be happy, holding their heads up and not looking at the floor, that makes me proud.”

Excellent training tailored to your needs

We invest in our carers, with training that helps you build the skills and experience you need to excel as a foster carer. We are focussed on ensuring you feel confident and ready to support the child placed with you.

Our training is built around you, taking into account your needs and how you want to grow and develop. Our close working relationship will enable us to develop a tailored package of training opportunities that are practical and helpful to you as an individual.

Training is delivered online or locally to your home and all courses are designed to fit around family and working life. Learning is practical, meaningful and often delivered by people with their own experience of fostering.

Before you become a foster carer, you will be trained in everything you need to know to prepare for the role with our ‘Skills to Foster’ course. This will cover the practical day to day skills and knowledge that foster carers need to help you feel ready for your new role.

Once you have a child placed with you, there is a wide range of further training you can access, covering everything from supporting a child with special needs to promoting positive behaviour.

A generous fee

At Priory we value our foster carers highly, which is why we pay a generous weekly fee and offer benefits including £500 towards a family holiday.

A break away together benefits the entire family and is something we actively encourage our carers to do, which is why we give you this to help out with the cost each year.

We know that fostering can be demanding which is why you will have 21 days paid respite care, providing time to recharge your batteries and help you feel ready to take on life’s challenges.
