Children with autism struggle to cope with their anxieties throughout the day in a school that doesn’t specialise in supporting Special Educational Needs (SEN). They will often have meltdowns on their return home and due to the anxieties; they are usually unable to access learning.
The student is expected to access very noisy environments during lunchtime and expected to socialise in a large area outside with lots of people, when most children with autism don’t have the skills to do this.
By watching our video, you will hear from Priory Group’s Autism Director, Allison Hope-West, who talks about what it is like for a child living with autism, their experiences of attending a school which cannot correctly support them, as well as the benefits of a specialist independent provider such as Priory Education and Children’s Services.
