St Martin’s Road Children’s Home is a children’s home registered with Ofsted to work with up to five young people with a diagnosis of learning difficulties including autism and associated complex needs up to 19 years of age.
The home is open 52 weeks per year and focuses on achieving exceptional daily living experiences where activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.
Staff at St Martin’s Road Children’s Home are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and motivating environment where young people with learning difficulties including autism and atypical ASD and associated complex needs, including behaviour that challenges, can stabilise their behaviour and receive autism specific support that is child centred.
The home looks to see the world through the eyes of those who are on the autistic spectrum and utilise this perspective to enable and support the young people, to support them to function as independently as possible within our society.
St Martin’s Road aims to provide young people with planned, whole year care that includes:
- Behaviour support plans
- Therapeutic interventions
- Programmes of independence and life skills
- Collaborating with local resources such as education provision – specifically with Priory’s Farleigh Further Education College which they have direct links to.
This ensures each young person has an individually tailored education and skills-based work programme.
Throughout placement at St Martin’s Road, young people will experience strong, motivational values embedded within a safe, nurturing and validating environment.
There is an emphasis on autism specific techniques, clear boundaries, communication pathways and structured care that is delivered by qualified, skilled practitioners who are able to provide appropriate supervision.
