What is fostering?

Fostering is looking after a child or young person in your home and caring for them whilst their own parents are unable to do so. Our approved foster carers provide a warm and safe home so that children can recover and thrive.

What is involved in becoming a foster carer?

We are driven by a passion to support young people in a way that best suits their individual needs and circumstances. Children and young people in foster care need to experience normal family life. As a foster carer you will provide a stable family environment, nurturing and guiding young people to unlock their unique potential, and equipping them for a brighter future.

Why do children go into foster care?

There are a number of reasons why a child or young person may not be able to live with their own family, such as bereavement, illness or family breakdown. In some cases, a child may be removed from the family home for their own safety. Their local authority then becomes responsible for their welfare and they become a ‘looked after child’.

"Part of the family"

“My foster carer has helped me through life since I have come to her. She has taught me many things like washing up and cooking. She also helped me decide what I would like to do with my life. She is always there for me to talk to and is a shoulder to cry on. She has made me part of her family and never leaves me out of anything. If it wasn’t for her helping me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
