Goodrich Manor

Goodrich Manor is a registered Children’s Home which can accommodate a maximum of five young people of either gender usually ranging in age from 9-18 years.

Summary

Our area of expertise is working with young people who have been abused; have disrupted and dysfunctional family backgrounds; have mild learning disabilities; have conditions such as ADHD; and those who are perhaps less streetwise and more vulnerable than their peers. Most young people will have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) as a result of their social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. 

Our focus

Goodrich provides a warm, welcoming, relaxed, yet structured environment, which encourages young people to develop social, educational and practical skills and to enjoy an active and fulfilling life. Goodrich has an experienced staff team who provide the young people with positive adult role models with whom to identify, as well as affording close supervision in a nurturing, ‘homely’ environment.

Our values

Goodrich places high value on relationships with and between young people and staff and it is these relationships that are central to the work that is undertaken with the young people. This work might include supporting young people in education; encouraging them to attend local clubs and activities; ensuring all health needs are met; helping them develop skills for independent living; building resilience; increasing self esteem; and equipping them with the knowledge and ability to keep themselves safe.

Previous young people living at Goodrich have achieved success in all these areas as evidenced by them gaining educational qualifications; moving on from Goodrich to live independently within the community; returning to live with their families; and generally developing into young adults that everyone can be proud of.
