Activities and facilities

Farleigh Further Education College organise a diverse calendar of trips, some of which are education-focussed and others are designed to help students develop their social skills. These have previously included visits to:

  • Snowdonia
  • Bulgaria
  • New York
  • Disneyland
  • Surfing in Devon
  • Berlin
  • Geography field trips
  • Bushcraft sessions in the forest


Students have access to a range of community-based sporting facilities. By supporting our young people to use local facilities, we help them to develop the confidence and social skills required to continue to access sporting facilities in their own communities after they leave us. Farleigh Further Education College is situated close to Frome leisure centre and students often use its facilities, including:

  • Football pitches
  • Gym
  • Trampolining
  • Fitness classes

Football is very popular at the college: Students have their own team and compete in a local league and many have participated in a Football Academy programme, which included learning about sports nutrition.

Trips and social activities

Day and residential students alike are able to join in a varied activities programme during evenings and weekends. These trips are usually chosen and organised by the students themselves and may include:

  • Museum trips
  • Cinema trips
  • Theatre trips
  • Shopping
  • Paint balling
  • Outings to the coast

Annual programme of events

Farleigh Further Education College organises a calendar of annual events, giving students, teachers and families the chance to come together. These include:

  • A presentation evening during the last week of summer term when we celebrate students’ achievements
  • Student end of year party during the summer term
  • Student Christmas party
  • College Christmas meal
  • Residential trip to Snowdonia
